With news that marijuana will be rescheduled the IRS reminds businesses that you still don’t get to deduct your expenses, outside of COGS, under Sec. 280E until it actually happens. Apparently, some people are filing amended returns. Unfortunately it doesn’t work that way. Maybe someone will file a lawsuit and challenge that interpretation by the IRS. Especially now that Chevron has been dumped, pun intended.

Fincen has updated their FAQs. The new fun one is that companies that existed on 01.01.2024 but were dissolved before their reporting date still have to file a report. https://www.fincen.gov/boi-faqs#C_4
